Regional Prevention Center Responsibilities
Community Mobilization
Just as medical researchers have found risk and protective factors for heart disease and other health issues, research has identified factors that are placing children, families, and communities at risk for interrelated problems. This research has also identified approaches that build protection and developmental assets in children. We attempt to build on this knowledge by:
- Conducting community readiness surveys to assist communities in preparing to begin the process of environmental change.
- Helping communities identify the Risk and Protective Factors to target for positive changes.
- Identifying best practices, programs, and strategies and rigorously evaluating promising approaches.
- Assisting communities in implementing appropriate strategies to change targeted Risk and Protective Factor data.
- Aid communities in evaluating the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
- Address sustainability issues and work to find partnerships to continually deliver effective strategies.
Capacity Building - Training, Education and Workshops!
Training and technical assistance are available for communities around core competencies: leadership, community assessment, outcome-based planning, community action and advocacy, community evaluation and leveraging resources.
RPC staff members are skilled at delivering presentations on several topics to a wide variety of audiences. View a list of presentations available.
Need CEUs? We offer several workshops each year – training with the RPC is educational, fun and affordable! View our training schedule.
