This training provides education about the methamphetamine problem and strategies for addressing it. It is geared toward people interested in implementing meth prevention efforts in their community.
Topics include:
Methamphetamine Overview (including level of the problem in Kansas)
Methods of Meth Production/Indicators of Meth Activity
Meth Lab Cleanup/Environmental Issues
Kansas Legislative Issues/Legal Guidelines
Panel: Effective Treatment Approaches (including clients in recovery from meth addiction)
Effects of Meth on Children (including those exposed prenatally)
Successful community strategies for addressing the meth problem.
All participants receive a 250-page manual of prevention strategies and resources, including Drug Endangered Children, rural & retail strategies, advocacy, treatment and action planning and a CD with Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, documents, video clips, statistics, photos etc. in ready-to-use formats for use in presentations and prevention activities.

This workshop is intended to increase awareness of the ways in which the process of addiction is marketed in today's media (with particular attention given to the targeting of our youth). The training includes videos, lectures and group activities. Resource materials will be provided.

This program is intended to increase
the understanding of both chemical and non-chemical addictions. The
training includes videos, interactive learning, case reviews and
helpful resources.
This program is intended to increase awareness of the rise in gambling
among youth. The training includes slide presentations, videos and
activities and resources that address youth gambling. Participants
will be provided a Gambling Prevention Packet containing handouts and
assessment instruments, a CD with a PowerPoint presentation and
information about the relationship of problem gambling to the existing
Risk and Protective Factors Approach to prevention.
Professions who may find this workshop useful include anyone working
with youth, such as: school personnel, social workers, addiction
counselors, prevention and treatment specialists, probation officers,
and parents. Certificates of attendance for 6.0 hours are available
for all participants.
This training qualifies for KCGC advanced CEU’s for recertification.
